The Andrea Gaulzetti Award for Excellence in Community Health is an annual employee award in memory of Andrea Gaulzetti, who was Lynn Community Health Center’s Chief Nursing Officer from 1997 until her passing in 2015. Andrea helped lay the foundation for who we are today. She was a dear friend, colleague, and mentor to those who knew her; she coached and mentored many employees who are in leadership positions today; and she was a fierce advocate for both patients and staff.
In 2014, Andrea presented an award during Nurses Week. The following year, after Andrea’s passing, LCHC chose to carry this peer-to-peer award annually in her memory. Staff nominate co-workers who they believe embody qualities that Andrea demonstrated herself, and valued in others, including:
- commitment to LCHC and its mission,
- patient centeredness,
- innovative thinking,
- customer service,
- mentorship for others,
- and commitment to personal growth.
This year, 31 employees were nominated by their peers. Ultimately, the Committee made up primarily of past awardees, came to the consensus that the 2023 Andrea Gaulzetti for Excellence in Community Health goes to Vicky Casides, RN on the Sunflower Team.
Vicky Casides, is celebrating 15 years of service at LCHC. She began her career on the Silver Team, before transitioning to Urgent Care for 10 years, and now a part of the Sunflower Team. Vicky had the pleasure of knowing and working under Andrea, which makes this even more special. Her colleagues expressed that Vicky is passionate and dedicated to patient care and serves as a link between departments and teams to ensure patients receive the right care in the right location. Her compassion and customers service focus ensure that patients feel valued. Vicky serves as an outstanding mentor to new staff. Congratulations Vicky!
