LYNN — Lynn Community Health Center (LCHC) is thrilled to announce the expansion of their Medical Outreach Program, a transformative initiative aimed at bringing essential healthcare services directly to the Greater Lynn community. This expansion introduces a cutting-edge clinical van, a mobile healthcare vehicle that will play a pivotal role in enhancing accessibility and healthcare outreach.

The clinical van is made possible through the generous support of Mass General Brigham, underscoring their commitment to fostering community health and well-being. This strategic collaboration empowers Lynn Community Health Center to extend its reach and impact, addressing the diverse healthcare needs of our community members.

The mobile unit is a dynamic extension of LCHC’s current services, complementing a range of crucial medical assistance they deliver to all populations in the Greater Lynn area. It is an innovative option for staff to serve and engage with clients who may not be comfortable coming into a bricks and mortar care setting. From acute and preventive care to screenings and vaccinations, as well as chronic disease management, the clinical van is poised to make a tangible difference in improving health outcomes and promoting overall wellness for our community’s most underserved. It will also provide on demand addiction treatment and harm reduction services. The mobile van features a full examination room, a waiting area with lab draw, point of care testing, and an area for intake and case management support.

“We are excited about the potential impact of our expanded Medical Outreach Program through the addition of the clinical van. This mobile unit allows us to meet individuals where they are, breaking down barriers to healthcare access and advancing our mission of health equity,” said Gargi Cooper, Medical Director of the Recuperative Care Center and of the Medical Outreach Program at Lynn Community Health Center.

“This initiative aligns with LCHC’s ongoing commitment to serving the diverse and evolving healthcare needs of our community,” said CEO Brenda Rodriguez. “By taking healthcare services on the road, we aim to bridge care gaps, foster community engagement, and ensure that the health center’s integrated care model is accessible to all.”

“We’ve learned through our own Mass General Brigham Community Care Van program that the benefit of mobile services is two sided—mobile care allows teams the flexibility to go to places where they’re needed most while also serving as a literal vehicle for delivering high quality care. By working with great community partners like Lynn Community Health Center, offering financial support for the purchase of their new state-of-the-art van, and sharing best practices about our own programs, we’re able to reach more people and scale a proven-effective, equity-informed model of care,” said Dr. Elsie Taveras, Chief Community Health and Health Equity Officer at Mass General Brigham.
