We’re celebrating National Health Center Week 2024!

Every August, the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) sponsors National Health Center Week (NHCW) to celebrate and increase awareness of America’s 1,400 Community Health Centers (CHCs). National Health Center Week is an opportunity to highlight the commitment and passion of staff, board members, and supporters at places like us, Lynn Community Health Center, who, together with national CHC’s, make it possible to provide quality, comprehensive healthcare services to more than 31.5 million patients across nearly 15,000 communities annually.

#NHCW24 Theme: Powering Communities Through Caring Connections

Community Health Centers serve as a beacon of strength, service, and care in their communities. In moments of pain and loss, we offer support and love. In moments of triumph, we offer hope and a vision for the future. This year’s National Health Center Week theme focuses on empowering communities by connecting them with health centers and elected officials from all levels of government. Celebrate the uniqueness of our community and get to know those dedicated to lasting partnerships!

By the end of the week, this banner will be full of staff names and notes!

Over the course of this week, we’ve been highlighting our staff and teams here and on social media (find us on Facebook, Instagram, X, or LinkedIn!). We’ve been out in our community, hearing directly from staff on why they love working at Lynn Community Health Center, giving away special swag and produce to our community, teaching our elected officials CPR and Narcan administration, and more!

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our incredible sponsors—Stop and Compare, Community Care Cooperative, the National Association of Community Health Centers, the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers—for their unwavering support during National Health Center Week. Special shout-out and appreciation to In The Game, My Brothers’ Table and our elected officials for their support, commitment, participations.

The amazing work you do year-round has a profound impact on our community, allowing us to provide the highest quality care to our patients. Your commitment to fostering health and well-being empowers us to overcome challenges and serve those in need effectively. We deeply appreciate the vital role community support plays in our mission; without it, we could not continue to deliver the exceptional care that our patients deserve. Thank you for standing with us and for the health of our community!

What a week!

Monday

Our Recuperative Care Center and Medical Outreach Program staff are caring, thoughtful, and believe in everyone in our community. Listen to what they have to say about their work, caring for our most resilient patients, and community support in Lynn!

Tuesday

Our executive team and staff were delighted to spend time at our community partner My Brother’s Table yesterday, volunteering during their dinner service. My Brother’s table mission is to nourish our community every day through hospitality, free meals, and unconditional love, which is exactly what our LCHC staff helped accomplish last night!
Additionally, our Recuperative Care Program partners with My Brother’s Table to provide an on-site clinic to provide immediate services to those receiving meals. This is a dream-come-true partnership!

Wednesday

We were thrilled to partner with Stop And Compare Supermarket to distribute fresh produce and wellness gifts to our amazing patients. It was just one way of saying “thank you” and “your health is important to us” not only on Patient Appreciation Day, but every day!

Thursday

We had a packed Thursday! Our stakeholders, including our elected local, state, and federal officials, are critical to keeping health centers like us equipped with resources. We welcomed Senator Ed Markey, Mayor Jared Nicholson, and Representative Pete Capano to tour our Recuperative Care Center to see firsthand the work of our teams.
Later in the afternoon, our Nurse Educator and one of our Peer Recovery Coaches taught a CPR and Narcan administration class to Representative Seth Moulton, Mayor Jared Nicholson, and some of wonderful Lynn City Counselors! This is critical, life-saving work and we were honored to teach our community members.
Don’t miss the celebration videos from Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey and our own City of Lynn Mayor Jared Nicholson!

Thursday & Friday

And, our staff had a wonderful time together with a staff-taught on-site morning zumba class, as well as a staff and family gathering at Peabody’s “In the Game”! We had so much fun playing games, challenging departments to laser tag and air hockey, and just being together. We know it’s true: team work makes the dream work! And there’s no where else that has teams like ours.
