Upwards of 100 LCHC mothers with newborns came to North Shore Community College’ Gym to attend Lynn Community Health Center’s (LCHC) 28th Annual Baby’s First Holiday Party on Friday, December 6.

Since 1996, a dedicated group of LCHC supporters have planned and hosted this event for LCHC families to celebrate the holiday season by dining together with LCHC OB/GYN staff. Music and cookie decorating for older siblings added to the festivities. Every new parent received a gift bag with baby essentials and a gift certificate to a local grocery store chain. In addition, each mother received a raffle ticket and thanks to our generous donors, items including strollers, pack’n’plays, highchairs, gift baskets and more were raffled off! This year, over 75 moms (and families) were able to attend.

“It’s wonderful to see patients and our OB/GYN staff sharing the afternoon, celebrating our youngest patients. It is truly a heartwarming event.” Brenda Rodriguez, MBA the Chief Executive Officer of Lynn Community Health Center. “We are fortunate to have longtime support of donors and volunteers who organize this LCHC keystone event.”

Santa and Mrs. Claus stopped by for a visit, as they do every year, making their way through the tables stopping to speak to children on the way to their special seats at the front. Twelve students from the Jefferson Forum at Marblehead High School returned as volunteers the day of the event. They brought homemade cookies and cookie decorating supplies for the older siblings. In addition the students helped to serve lunch, take photos with Santa and hand out gifts.

This year, the Lynn Community Health Center’s OB/GYN department is projected to deliver over 600 babies. “Baby’s First” is one way for our parents to stay connected with their providers and see LCHC as a resource for building healthy lives.
